ROFUS

ROFUS (Register Over Frivilligt Udelukkede Spillere) is Denmark's national register of voluntarily self-excluded players, operated by the Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden), covering all online gambling licensed in Denmark.

Danish residents register via MitID, the national digital identity, choosing a temporary exclusion of 24 hours, one, three or six months, or a permanent exclusion that can only be lifted after at least one year and on explicit request. Registration also lets consumers opt out of receiving gambling marketing.

Danish licensees are required to:

• check ROFUS at account registration and at every login, denying access to registered players in real time;
• exclude registered players from all marketing, a duty extending to affiliate and programmatic channels;
• verify players against the register using CPR-based identity, making matches deterministic.

Because MitID/CPR identity underlies both onboarding and ROFUS checks, Denmark leaves no room for "we could not match the player" arguments — a miss is an integration failure.

Why it matters: Spillemyndigheden audits register connectivity, and serving an excluded player risks fines and licence conditions. Like Spelpaus and CRUKS, ROFUS is a login-path dependency: it must sit inside the platform's authentication flow, as implemented in the Vuch compliance suite.
